Rent contract attestation goes online in Sharjah

Rental dispute cases can be filed electronically.

The Sharjah Municipality has announced that all rent contract attestation services by the municipality will be completed electronically from today. No paper will be used in the process of all types of leasing services, said a top official at the municipality.

Salim Thabit Al Taraifi, Director-General of the municipality, said that the move is aimed at saving time and effort of customers and expediting the completion of various transactions. “The municipality has been keen to complete most of its services and transactions electronically, without the need to use paper. Last year, the municipality started the digital transformation with the Sabiq project, through which it will transform all its services into digital.”

Mohammed Hassan Al Hammadi, director of the department of rental regulation at the municipality, explained that the department provides its services without using paper as various other departments work on the completion of electronic transactions. Now, the department provides electronic lease renewal service to landlords and real estate offices through the Sharjah Municipality official website.

“Landlords and the real estate offices can use their ownership card and list all their documents to receive user ID and activation code to be able to renew the contracts through the website. They will have to upload all the documents and pay the fees to be certified to provide services for tenants without approaching the municipality.

Rental dispute cases can be filed electronically

Al Hammadi pointed out that the Department of Rental Dispute Resolution has added a scanner for customer service staff in the department to archive the requests submitted to the judges of the committees so that the customer can see the decision electronically without the need to come to the municipality.

“The complaints against landlords or tenants are also submitted to the judges for execution through the municipality’s website. Customers can access decisions issued by judges through the website,” he added.
