When announced in 2007 by developer Tameer Holdings the development was called Platinum Towers. Construction was put on hold in 2008 owing to the global financial crisis.
In 2013 it was taken over by Al Marya Development & Real Estate, part of HAMG Investments. The design was modified and the building was renamed Lillian Tower.
