The Westin Al Habtoor City is almost ready to open its doors.

The names, and not a great deal else, of four restaurants and/or bars have been confirmed – there will six in total – including Il Capo, a high-end Italian, and Cook Hall, a modern, warehouse-style spot. There’s also the Firefly Lounge. Outside, meanwhile, there will be three swimming pools and a kids club.

There are 13 categories of room, from the relatively modest Deluxe King right up to the ten-times larger Heavenly Suite, which sleeps five and has a cinema room and pool table.

Before we know it this huge development right next to the Dubai Canal, near Business Bay and just off of Sheikh Zayed Road will be complete.

As for The Westin, the 41-storey, 1,004 room hotel will have three outdoor swimming pools, six restaurants, a yoga studio and a 20-treatment-room Heavenly Spa.

It will also be right next to the 1,400 seater Dragone Theatre (which will bring a permanent Vegas-style aqua show to the city).

There will also be a dining complex in the centre of the new ‘city’ called The Atrium: it will be in the centre of the three new hotels and will have seven different restaurants and bars spread across five levels.
